There just ain't enough female Dj's spinning in clubs nowadays and I ask girls why not? From Miss Kitten through to Ellen Alien, they're mad decent, yet despite most festival crowds being 50%50% if you look at the big lineups at any decent festivals, the dj's are mainly male.
D'n'B may be changing but lets face it dancefloors are def male dominated, which is why these two ladies are like a breath of fresh air. BTraits and Dj Empress are going against the UK trend, heating up dance floors on both sides of the pond. B.Traits recently dropped a sick Digital Soundboy mix on DnB arena (see her Myspace for details) which I've had on rerun for a while, sultry mix of jungle inspired groves, a perfect fit to ShyFX's style. Empress hails from the Apple and has produced some sweet tunes too, including the much acclaimed remix of Roy Ayers we live in Brooklyn (sick sick tune, check it out). Now I just gotta wait for them to come to a dancefloor near me...
